Do you train in a way that actually avoids injury? 🧠🏋️♂️
Do you train in a way that actually avoids injury?
Not “be careful.” Not “listen to your body.”
I mean: how many specific things are built into your training to reduce injury risk—on purpose?
At Symmetry Exercise Clinic, that’s not an afterthought. We’ve built an entire system around training in a way that minimizes injury risk—and we can teach it to you.
Why are we so obsessive about injury prevention?
Because lifting weights is the #1 most important thing you can do to age well and to avoid what we call diseases (or states) of neglect.
Not diseases of aging. Diseases of neglect.
Meaning: they’re not “coming because you’re getting older”… they’re coming because you’re not doing what your body requires.
Here’s what neglect produces:
- Increased risk of almost every type of disease, including cancer and mental health disease
- Bone loss / osteoporosis
- Loss of muscle mass (losing actual muscle)
- Loss of strength
- Loss of conditioning (endurance and power)
- Loss of energy
These are products of neglect—not products of aging.
And if you care about body composition…
If you want to keep body fat down and maintain some semblance of an attractive body (however you define attractive) — lifting weights in a strategic, progressive manner is an integral part of it.
Here’s the bigger point:
When we say “lifting weights,” we don’t mean random workouts, random variety, or just “getting sweaty.”
We mean Strategic Progressive Resistance Training (SPRT).
We call it that for a reason:
- Strategic = the exercises, loads, ranges, and progressions are chosen on purpose.
- Progressive = the stimulus increases over time so your body has a reason to adapt.
That’s the whole point. ✅
And to be blunt:
There isn’t a close second. You must do it.
Here’s a fact about SPRT 📌
- The results you want from Strategic Progressive Resistance Training come very, very slowly.
- They continue to come for a very long time—years and years and years.
- If you stop doing it, you lose those results.
That means you need to continue doing Strategic Progressive Resistance Training for decades.
And that’s exactly why it’s so important to train in a way that avoids injury.
Back to the original question 🔁
When you work with a professional, are they training you in a way that avoids injury?
And are they teaching you to train in a way that avoids injury?
I mean specific things to do.
We do—and we can teach you
We can teach you whether you want to train with us, or whether you want to learn how to do it by yourself. You can decide that. If you’re not sure, we can help you decide.
Remember: you’re talking about diseases and states of neglect, not diseases of aging. That means they’re coming if you neglect them.
It also means:
- results come slowly and for a long time, and
- when you stop training, they go away.
So if you’re going to train hard, intensely, and for decades—maybe your whole life—then you need to do it in a way that’s safe. 🛡️🏋️♂️
