For seven straight seasons, Chris Sale was one of the most feared pitchers in baseball. Seven All Star selections from 2012 to 2018. A World Series ring with Boston. A strikeout pace no lefty had ever matched.
Then his body started to betray him. From 2019 on, a run of injuries, including Tommy John surgery in 2020 and a fractured rib, limited him to just 31 starts across four seasons. A lot of people wrote him off. The ace looked finished.
In December 2023, the Atlanta Braves took a chance and traded for him. The very next month, in January 2024, Chris began working with us. The focus was simple. Improve the quality of control throughout his body, work the muscle and spare the joint, and get him moving the way an elite athlete needs to move. In his words, his neck felt amazing and he felt the best he had in decades.
Then came the season. Chris made his most starts and threw his most innings since 2017, and barely missed a turn all year. He finished with 18 wins against 3 losses, a 2.38 ERA, and 225 strikeouts, leading the entire National League in all three. That is the pitching Triple Crown, something no Braves pitcher had ever done. At age 35, he won his first Cy Young Award, was named National League Comeback Player of the Year, earned a Gold Glove, and returned to the All Star Game.
The best season of his life arrived right after the toughest stretch of his career.
For six years, Chance struggled with a bad hip. Over that time he was told all kinds of different things by doctors, surgeons, and physical therapists, with nothing that lasted. Then he came to Symmetry. After just two months working with Jay, his pain was gone, he could move freely again, and his hip was stronger than it had ever been. What stood out to him just as much as the results was the dedication he was shown along the way, the kind of attention focused entirely on getting him the best outcome possible. His takeaway was simple: this is the place to come for top notch work and real result.
