“𝗜 𝗳𝗲𝗲𝗹 𝗹𝗶𝗸𝗲 𝗜 𝘀𝗵𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱 𝗯𝗲 𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗺𝗼𝘃𝗲 𝗳𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿.”
That is what my client said when she was performing the seated calf raise exercise.
I replied, “No. You are moving the exact amount you should be.”
Do you feel that way sometimes too?
Do you feel like you 𝗦𝗛𝗢𝗨𝗟𝗗 be able to go farther?
𝙃𝙊𝙇𝘿 𝙊𝙉 𝙉𝙊𝙒!!!
Why?
What makes you believe you should be able to move farther than you can?
𝗧𝗼𝗽 𝟰 𝗮𝗻𝘀𝘄𝗲𝗿𝘀:
1. Others can move farther than you so you think you should be able to move farther too.
2. You recall being able to move farther in your past so you think you should still be able to move that far.
3. You think farther is better
4. You can’t think of a reason why you shouldn’t move farther.
𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀:
1. Your tissue health (bone, tendon, ligament, muscle, capsule, cartilage, etc.)
2. The amount you can move is influenced by many factors. Here are a few:
A. The weight you are using.
B.The position you are in and the path you are moving through.
C.Your skeletal structure.
D.Your injury history.
3. The amount you can move is often not the same on both sides (and very often that’s ok).

While some sports require you to move farther, 𝙬𝙝𝙚𝙣 𝙟𝙤𝙞𝙣𝙩 𝙝𝙚𝙖𝙡𝙩𝙝/𝙞𝙣𝙩𝙚𝙜𝙧𝙞𝙩𝙮 𝙞𝙨 𝙖 𝙥𝙧𝙞𝙤𝙧𝙞𝙩𝙮, 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙨𝙝𝙤𝙪𝙡𝙙 𝙘𝙤𝙣𝙨𝙞𝙙𝙚𝙧 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙨𝙤𝙣𝙨 𝙬𝙝𝙮 𝙩𝙧𝙮𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙩𝙤 𝙢𝙤𝙫𝙚 𝙛𝙖𝙧𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙧 𝙢𝙞𝙜𝙝𝙩 𝙣𝙤𝙩 𝙗𝙚 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙗𝙚𝙨𝙩 𝙞𝙙𝙚𝙖.
